The world is in turmoil. A virus races across the globe as the Taliban sweeps through Afghanistan and begins to hunt down Christians and others opposed to their regime. On this first Sunday of the August 2021 Lockdown, Ps Kaye and Rob tag-team:

  • Ps Kaye expounds on Isaiah 40:31 - how to rise like an eagle above the storms and difficult times in life (including this pandemic)

  • Ps Rob follows up by taking us through several Bible verses in which the Lord tells us how to support and pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ.

Prayer points will be circulated this week.

Ps Kaye also extends a lockdown invitation to stay in touch. If you want to chat for any reason, even just to talk about a Bible verse, send them a text and they will arrange a time to video chat.

AM – Love Fervently. The End is Near cont. - 1 Peter Series, Part 15

Love Fervently!

In Part 15 of our series on the book of 1 Peter, Ps Rob continues discussing 1 Peter 4:7-9.

In this sermon we explore a unique ability of the church - fervent love. This is loving each other in spite of our past, our faults and weaknesses. And even more than that, it’s looking for opportunities to love, to be hospitable, to use gifts from the Lord.

Key Passage: 1 Peter 4:7-9

AM – Jude Says Contend for the Faith

Contend for the Faith

when God’s Truth is Attacked. Jude 1

The letter from Jude calls us to fight! To contend! To do battle! When the truth of God is attacked, it is time to fight for the faith. Only believers who are spiritually “in shape” can answer the summons. The danger is real. False teachers have crept into the church turning God’s grace into unbounded license to do as they please.

Ps Kaye uses aspects of Jude to warn us to not be caught off guard in the face of the spiritual dangers that we face in our era from both inside and outside the church. The challenge is great, but so is the God who is able to keep us from stumbling.

PM – Prophetic Words Are Our Lifeblood

Prophetic Words Are Our Lifeblood

Plus “Songs That Make You Think”

Ps Rob talks from Paul’s letters to Timothy. He shares how prophetic words are our lifeblood - as believers they’re an indispensable factor in helping us fight the battle well (1 Tim 1:18). Plus, Rob treats us to a pre-sermon on ‘Songs That Make You Think’.

PM – From Prison to Palace

Essential Listening

Even when the Apostle Paul was in prison, his witness and confidence in Christ impacted people in the palace.

So, when persecution, sickness, depression, financial difficulty or any other crisis strikes and we feel like we’re in a prison what do we do?

Guest speaker Ps Michael Dissanayeke, Assembly of God minister in Sri Lanka, shares four powerful keys to turn your situation around. These keys will enable you to have confidence in God, trust/faith that He will turn things around, maintain a hope that is anchored in our Eternity, and have courage to face your fear.

To illustrate, Ps Michael draws on his experiences from the Easter 2019 bombings in Sri Lanka.

Courage isn't the absence of fear. Courage is the ability to face fear differently.

Safety isn't found in a place. Safety is found in a person, the person of Jesus.

AM - Developing a Biblical Worldview - Part 1: The Word of God

Developing a Biblical Worldview - Part 1

Today Ps Rob starts a new series ‘Developing a Biblical Worldview’. In Part 1 he urges us to understand the Word to the greatest extent that we can. Only the Word of God will prevent us from being lead astray by the World's thinking.

A day is coming when the Bible will become illegal in New Zealand, like has already happened in other nations. We must get it into ourselves - digest it - so that the Word stored in our hearts still speaks to us when the physical Bible is taken away.
