AM – How to Experience Our Heavenly Father's Loving Embrace

It’s very easy to get caught up in performance-based Christianity - trying to earn God’s love, or going through the motions of the Christian life. However, this is not the kind of relationship that Father God desires to have with us.

In this Father’s day message Andrew Ward shares four keys for moving from a performance-based relationship with our Heavenly Father to a love-based relationship in which we freely express our affection for Him:

  1. Be continually filled with the power of the Holy Spirit

  2. Get to know what God says in His Word Himself and about you

  3. Tell your soul to be quiet!

  4. Regularly spend time fellowshipping with the Father

He also touches on wrong father images and how to transform the Christian disciplines of prayer, fasting, Bible reading, tithing, attending services, etc from chores into expressions of our love for Him.

AM - How to Cultivate a Healthy Mindset

Our thought-life determines what we cultivate in our lives. Currently, ‘mind-emptying’ mindfulness is all the rage. In today’s message Amanda Minot shares how Christian mindfulness isn’t about emptying the mind. It’s about self-control and Godly thinking. It’s about intentional thinking. It’s being aware of what’s going on in our head and taking control over it. Amanda shares solid advice on how to walk in the Spirit in order to cultivate a healthy, Christian mindset.

PM – How To Use Praise as a Weapon

In this short and powerful evening message Ps Rob uses Ephesians Chapter 1 to demonstrate how to use praise as a weapon to overcome the enemy.

Try your best to get along to these PM services. They are very different to the morning services. We are experiencing some very special times of intimate worship with the Lord in them.

In this particular evening service, the worship time flowed freely and we strongly sensed the Holy Spirit’s presence. It was beautiful.

AM – How To Delight In God & Have Your Desires Fulfilled

Ps Rob tells us how to delight in the Lord and have the Lord give us the desires of our heart (Ps 37:4). Rob illustrates his message with the powerful testimony of him and Kaye being shown by God in 1984-85 that the Lord wanted to take them to Israel to live for 2 years.

Psalms 37:4
4 Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
(NIV)

Tune into the final 5 minutes of the message and grab some bread and juice to spend some time worshipping the Lord in communion.

AM – The Collective - A New Initiative

The Collective - Is it…

  • An underground political movement?

  • The Stokes Valley Stamp Collectors’ Club?

  • A Hutt Valley commune?

  • Something even better?

In the early days of the Christian church, the new believers cared for each other by collecting together funds in order to meet each other’s needs (Acts 2:42-47).

The Collective is our equivalent to ensure that we have funds to meet each other’s needs.

Ps Kaye teaches us from Acts chapter 2, how to listen to the Spirit so that we give from His abundance and don’t bankrupt our resources and emotions.

May the Lord move mightily amongst us with His presence and provision.

A bank account has been established for giving into the collective. Ask Ps Kaye for the account number. (Put your Tithe No in the Code field E.g. “Tithe No 19”. Put the word “Collective” in the Reference field)

Tithe Message by Richard Wilson:

PM – Seek God's Manifest Presence At Risk and In Our Lives

God’s tangible presence was very strong during the worship of this service.

This message is Ps Rob's response to having just experienced God's presence. He tells of a service sometime around 1995 when God’s presence manifested as a tangible cloud inside the Risk Church auditorium and creche.

Ps Rob then goes on to encourage us to keep seeking God’s manifest presence as individuals and as a Risk Church family.

PM – From Prison to Palace

Essential Listening

Even when the Apostle Paul was in prison, his witness and confidence in Christ impacted people in the palace.

So, when persecution, sickness, depression, financial difficulty or any other crisis strikes and we feel like we’re in a prison what do we do?

Guest speaker Ps Michael Dissanayeke, Assembly of God minister in Sri Lanka, shares four powerful keys to turn your situation around. These keys will enable you to have confidence in God, trust/faith that He will turn things around, maintain a hope that is anchored in our Eternity, and have courage to face your fear.

To illustrate, Ps Michael draws on his experiences from the Easter 2019 bombings in Sri Lanka.

Courage isn't the absence of fear. Courage is the ability to face fear differently.

Safety isn't found in a place. Safety is found in a person, the person of Jesus.
